Jack’s Custom Wood Shop has been a trusted name in fine woodworking in Lafayette, Indiana since 1997. As a family-owned and operated business, we proudly serve homeowners throughout Tippecanoe, Benton, Clinton, and Carroll counties, specializing in custom woodworking, antique furniture restoration, trim carpentry, and thoughtful kitchen updates.

The shop began with a simple but powerful moment. After having a rocking chair refinished by a “professional” and receiving it back in poor condition, owner Jack Hughes took the chair apart and redid the work himself. Hands-on by nature, Jack knew he could do better—and more importantly, he knew the community deserved better. That experience sparked the opening of Jack’s Custom Wood Shop and set the standard that still guides every project today.

For nearly three decades, Jack and his family have built a reputation for craftsmanship, precision, and attention to detail. From custom cabinet installations and built-in woodworking to heirloom furniture repair and restoration, every piece that leaves the shop is treated with care, respect, and pride.
